This past week, Facebook changed the way you read your friends updates with Recent Stories, giving you power and capabilities to separate your friends into different lists. Much like Google+ Circles, when you separate your friends between the different “Lists” you also get to choose what posts and updates from your profile they will get to see. In addition, you can make information public to the world wide web where anyone can subscribe to your public feed.
Not many people were happy about that. As reported by NBC’s “Today,” a small amount of 2 Million Facebook users are not happy – compared to the 750+ million users. But WAIT! There’s more.
Today, Facebook held their annual F8 Developers Conference announcing a whole new layout that will change the way you socialize on the platform. They introduced Timeline. Their point of doing this is for you to create “The Story of Your Life” that anyone of your friends can interact with. This is another transformation in the social media world but is it big enough to change the way you interact with others?
In addtion, Facebook’s focus is to make their social network platform that place to be and stay. They also announced agreements with Hulu, Netflix, and iHeart Radio so you can access media directly from the site.
Whether this is bad or good it just might be worth the wait to see how this will work out. If you don’t like it, you can just goto Google+ instead.
