Citizen Can Cosponsor Bills Now Possible Through Facebook

Screen Shot 2012-03-21 at 11.41.38 AM

With my motivation behind politics, it drives me crazy to see what is happening in America everyday. My major concern is that elected representatives are not listening to voters anymore. In fact, I see the elected representatives fighting hard to convince American’s of what works instead of the other way around. Well, “there’s an app for that!”

A new app on Facebook, “Citizen Cosponsor” from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) allows citizens to get involved and to start to co-sponsor bills presented in The House of Representatives.

Once a user “cosponsors” a bill, they receive periodic updates on its status — if there’s a hearing about it, whether it’s passed committee, or if it’s up for a full vote in Congress. Facebook automatically shows off a user’s support of a bill to all of his or her friends.

This platform is built for the Facebook Open Graph so this is pretty exclusive and open to anyone on Facebook.

Here is a step closer for The Hosue to be open to the citizens of The United States and now the rest of Congress should follow suit.
