About 12:39am, a shooting took place at Century Theater in Aurora, Colorado during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. Twelve have been reported killed, and 38+ injuries. The death count is expected to rise as infantas, children and adults range from minor to serious condition. My heart and prayers goes out to these families as they are going through these difficult times.
Second note, the news media is already proving to be irresponsible on this story, such as ABC News, on reporting the crime. The name of the shooter is James Holmes, a 24-year old. The news media already tried to place him with a political affiliation, the Tea Party, and they have shot up random photos of other men and young men with the same common name of James Holmes in the same area. Assumptions and random picture postings is not truth or credible, just being lazy, especially about a sensitive tragedy.
Credibility is on the line and today, the news just lost it completely. My message to the media, quit playing with peoples lives and making assumptions. Whatever happened to common sense and investigative reporting to report the facts? Assumptions is not news, “this might be true” is not true yet or proven to be so–stop reporting it.
If the public has any common sense and desire truth, you will quit watching regularly programed news. They have no credibility for such random assumptions such as “what possibly happened” or “who is could have been responsible” at this incident.
